DESCRIPTION:
This is a wonderful 8-Day Rolling Moon inlaid mahogany longcase clock which is in superb condition and is exceptionally detailed and stunning quality. The clock is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. This clock is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a clock to place straight into their home.
If we start with the hood, this has swan necks. To the centre of the swan necks is a brass finial. The hood door is flanked by wonderful reeded Corinthian columns which terminate in exquisite brass capitals. The hood door is opened by a key and the lock and key are present and in working order.
If we then move down to the trunk it has a lovely shaped door which fits neatly into the trunk. It has been superbly inlaid with an urn and swags in Satinwood, Boxwood and other exotic woods. The door is also complete with it's lock and key which is fully working, and is flanked by canted corners. The door opens to reveal the lovely quality brass cased weights.
Finally the base also been beautifully inlaid with an urn and swags, in Satinwood, Boxwood and other exotic woods, which sets it off superbly. It is then raised on ogee bracket feet.
The dial with makers name of 'SEARLE & SONS, PLYMOUTH' has the four corners adorned with beautiful cherub spandrals. The dial is set out with ROMAN Numerals with small Arabic numerals above and between the numerals are lovely fleur de lis. There is a subsidiary second dial. The moon is beautifully adorned with the two moons and a lovely star filled night sky background. The dial also has the most wonderful shaped fingers.
The movement is eight day duration and is rack striking on a single bell. In addition to striking the hours it also strikes once on the half past. The movement is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. As can be seen from the photographs the movement is immaculately clean.

As can be seen from these dimension this is a clock of lovely slim proportions.
