At 9 1/2" High and 7" wide this Colonial Blue Large Covered Compote in the Thumbprint pattern was made in the 1960's by the Fenton Art Glass Company of Williamstown, West Virginia. This piece is known as the #4484 CB Anniversary Bowl. Fenton made this thumbprint pattern as a reproduction of Argus, the early American pattern made in the 1800's by the Bakewell, Pears Company in Pittsburgh. The condition is good. There are no chips cracks or scratches on the bowl portion. The edge of the lid has one small chip& some rough spots. Cannot be seen when the lid is in place.0ut of the 60 or more formulas Fenton has for Blue Glass I believe this Colonial Blue is the most striking and colorful. A handsome hexagon stem with a top Diameter of the bowl at 7" and the bottom Dia.of the base is 4 1/2". A stunning Compote to grace any table setting.
