Very good quality, cavalry style, 18th Century Turkish miquelet pistol. Eastern-style, lightly engraved round barrel. Miquelet lock. Beautiful Turkish style stock decorated with deep floral style carvings. Steel counter plat The trigger guard, butt are Sterling silver mounts decorated with floral engravings. The pistol is of considerably higher quality than usually encountered. CONDITION: Fine+. The stock is solid and in overall fine condition with couple of minor handling marks and light scratches. No cracks to the wood. All the steel furniture is in excellent condition. The barrel has a layer of patina with occasional micro-pitting. The ramrod is fixed and cased in sterling silver. The engravings on the barrel are worn. The lock is in working order But I removed the striker to look at it and the spring is so stiff I didn't have a tool I felt would recompress it without possible scratching. All original and complete. Very attractive late 18th century Turkish cavalry pistol! Status: For Sale Reference#: 337056 Condition: See Description Year: See Description « Less

Antique Georgian gilt bronze and agate hardstone etui / necessaire. Made in England circa 1870. Measures 3 1/2 inches long. Classic shaped etui - rounded at front and back, More »
Antique Georgian gilt bronze and agate hardstone etui / necessaire. Made in England circa 1870. Measures 3 1/2 inches long. Classic shaped etui - rounded at front and back, flaring gently towards the top. Made of gorgeous hardstone agate, probably from Scotland, with natural striations and variations in colour, ranging from mustards and creams through shades of green and red. Mounted in gilt bronze, hand engraved in simple patterns, typical of the Georgian era. INside, the etui is gilt metal, fitted to hold the various tools and implements that a woman might need. These include: a needle for darning; a ruler measured in inches; a cut steel tweezers with file on the handle; a long-handled small-bowled spoon, which we thought was for snuff, but which we are told was an ''ear wax scoop and toothpick, common in Georgian etuis''; a larger gilt spoon for salt; a bodkin with another needle; a handle for a knife in gilt; a steel knife blade that screws into the handle (see ''photos); a pair of scissors. One handle of the scissors needs to be rejoined. Considering the age, use and delicacy of the etui / necessaire, it is in amazingly good condition. THere are two very minor natural cracks in the stone, a tiny one on top, another, with the grain on the underneath. Neither is noticeable or compromises the item in any way and are mentioned only for the sake of total accuracy. It is very rare to find such an item with all of the original pieces. Status: For Sale Reference#: 4137 Condition: good Year: 1770 Title: ANTIQUE GEORGIAN GILT & HARDSTONE ETUI NECESSAIRE C1770 « Less

In the tombs of ancient kings--in Mycenae, in Egypt, and Ur--magnificent daggers have been found which speak of the worldly power and status of their owners. This splendid silver weapon from the Arabian peninsula follows in that same tradition. Undoubtedly, the person who once wore it was an individual of importance. - (PF.0313) « Less

Some of those makers were employees at Pal-Bell and after a few years of 'learning the business' they opened their own workshop. Oppenheim was already known prior to the1950s and made items marked: "Hand Made in Palestine". Later they bought Pal-Bell from Moshe Klein and continued some product lines using Pal-Bell's moulds and their new logo.During the transition period, we may see items marked with both logos and some have no marking at all, but the items were made by using the original Pal-Bell moulds. There are many original items made by Pal-Bell, not marked or not listed in the catalogues. « Less
