Beautiful, rare, antique four poster, tiger wood maple bed, American Federal vintage era (1810-1820). Solid wood. Strong, durable, beautifully refinished to museum quality appearance 67 years ago. Comes with original bed side rails with metal inserted hooks and slats, which is rare, to fit into the bed posts. In excellent condition for its age. Used up until 1 year ago in a guest bedroom. Bed is part of family inheritance with other antiques. My mother bought this bed for me from a seller in 1966 when I was an adolescent growing up in Iowa. She had it refurbished to high original standards and quality. I no longer have room for it in my current home. Headboard and footboard with posts (outside measurements) are both 64" tall; headboard and footboard with posts (outside measurements) are both 55.5" wide; bed length (outside measurement) 82". Bed rails (2) are each 74.5" L x 5"W x1" thickness. Inside bedframe measurements for double mattress fit are: 78" L x 53.5" W. Full cash or Paypal arrangement for local pick-up only. The knobs are made of blown glass and I believe are original to the chest. It also has wonderful carved columns on each side. This is an extremely rare & important 18th century exceptionally strong and very bold tiger maple twelve drawer fluted corner columns with lamb tongue returns bracket base New England chest on chest. Attributed Origin: Rural Connecticut With its original surface & original hardware. Choice mellow nut brown amber patina. In a superb state of preservation. Recently acquired from a client east of Brattleboro, Vermont who purchased it in 1935. It has been owned privately since 1935 until Equinox Antiques & Fine Art discovered it on a house call and purchased it privately from the client. The photographs on the website does not demonstrate the exceptional bold tiger maple nor its choice mellow patina. Additional photographs will be taken and can be forwarded upon request. If you love tiger maple you would be hard pressed to find a better 18th century American chest on chest for some time.
