Exquisite antique gilt bronze nude lady with her hands extended welcoming nature and life. She is beautifully sculptured and has a very peaceful and happy expression on her face. She is titled in high relief VERSLINFINI. She is inscribed Susse Fres Ed Paris also has the Susse Fres foundry stamp and the letters PB on each side of the Susse Fres foundry stamp. She is signed on the back Alaoust. This is an exquisite sculpture with a beautiful stance and lovely gilt bronze patina she rests on a large variegated marble base measuring 4-1/2 inches deep and 4-1/4 inches wide. Not including the base she measures 11-1/4 inches from the bottom to the top of her hand. From finger tip to finger tip across the top she measures 5-3/4 inches. Weight 7.25 lbs. Beautiful antique gilt bronze nude lady water bearer signed Bizard (Suzanne Bizard), a 19th and early 20th century French artist who sculpted mostly beautiful nude women, this example being no exception. The bronze is inscribed Bizard on the side of the water jug. The sculpture depicts a beautiful nude gilt bronze lady seated on flat rocks holding a large water jug pouring water out. Suzanne Bizard created many beautiful female nude bronze sculptures this being one of her best. There were very few female sculptors who attained her degree of craftsmanship and artistry. Her sculptures are sought after and collected by sculpture enthusiasts worldwide. Very few come to the market. Almost all of her works are held in private collections. Height 10-1/2 inches. Exquisite antique mythological bronze lady symbolic of the birth of Venus but more on a Nautical theme. Here the lady is depicted standing on the shell. In her left hand a trident, and in her right hand a shell. On either side of the shell she is standing on there are 2 mythological dolphins swimming by her side. This is an absolutely gorgeous bronze in superb condition circa 1880s. The bronze is signed L. Pilet, one of the finest French 19th century sculptors, near the back on the lower right side. The bronze measures 13-1/4 inches high. From the shell to the trident point it measures 6-1/4 inches. Its original dolphin base attached to the bronze measures 6 inches wide and 4-1/2 inches deep. Gladenbeck foundry was the equivalent to the French Barbedienne Foundry . Both were considered the finiest foundries in Europe. Gladenbeck was considered the most important foundry in Germany during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Gladenbeck was and is considered the best foundry in Germany turning out the most perfect pieces made in the 19th and early 20th centuries. CarlSeffner is a listed German 19th century artist who sculpted in the late 1800s. This Art Deco interpretation of Eve shows the fondness for tall women in Germany during that time period. This rendition is representative of this artist's finest work. She measures 12 inches high on her original black/dark green polished marble base. Not including the base she measures 9 inches. The snake has very good sculptured definition and looks alive as it approaches the lady. The lady does not look frightened by the snake, just concerned that a big snake is approaching her. On the side of the rock base below her right foot is a raised foundry seal, please see picture close ups for the foundry seal . The bronze is artist signed to the left of the foundry seal please see close ups for the signature. From the bottom of the base to the top of her head, the bronze measures 13 inches high. Beautiful antique bronze sculpture of Venus with a dolphin and 2 cherubs by her side. The sculpture is inscribed Kley. Louis Kley 1833-1911, was born in France on March 17, 1833 and died there on March 8, 1911. He studied with LeQuien and exhibited at the Paris salons starting in 1853, winning a medal at the Exposition of 1889 and many other prizes. He specialized in sculpting allegorical and Neo-classical subjects. This is a beautiful version of Venus with a nice chocolate brown patina. To her left is a fully sculptured dolphin with cherubs riding on it. Other than some minor rubbing to the base on the back side at the very bottom this sculpture is in very good to excellent condition. The patina is original to this sculpture.
