A WWI French helmet inkwell made of painted tin and with the original glass inkwell reservoir and chinstrap. Painted the traditional blue grey of the french artillery helmet and with a battle commemorative, Carentan in brass across the visor. These were among the many souveniers produced by the French, both to raise money during the war as well as after. This example has a samll hinge on the rear bottom suggeting that it was`attached to some now missing piece. A nice quality piece of WWI memorabilia. The glass inkwell is usually missing so adds to the desirability of this piece. 2"x3"x3.25
