This exquisite box is an amazing piece of 19th century exotic craftsmanship. The box is made from ebony, inlaid with ivory, and veneered with porcupine quills. This example is one of the highest quality boxes of this kind. This box has a ton of ivory compared to most you will see for sale. There are no markings but from lots of research we believe this was crafted in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in the 1800's. This box is in good shape overall but does have a few quills missing as can be seen in the pictures. If you have any questions please ask before you buy. thanks.
