From ancient Rome, ca. 200 BC – 200 AD. High karat yellow gold roundel with impressed spread-winged bird, possibly an eagle with indistinct snake in beak and another in talons. Twisted rope border and hammered, tubular suspension loop soldered above. 3/4â€L., .8 grams, light encrustation on reverse, slightly misshapen, but intact.
