Here is an outstanding, Stiegel type, enameled GERMAN glass schnapps flask, circa 1770, deep baby blue color glass beautifully enameled with a soldier on horse back. There is no German verse on the back and the only mounted soldiers of the period that wore red coats with black hats were the British. So….probably made for the British market just prior to the American Revolution. About 6 ¼†tall. Some very minor enamel losses, see photos, otherwise perfect. The pewter collar is perfectly intact. Super rare piece!!!
We were told that this bottle, or one exactly like it, was sold at a Richard Bourne auction about 30 years ago for $2,000.
Price is firm.
Thanks for looking.
