SOLD A very unusual Antique, British, light cavalry officer's sabre, with the late 18th century blade made by legendary maker J.J. Runkel of Solingen, and the 1821/1822 Pattern, hilt.
DETAILS: An extremely long, slightly curved, single edged blade, cut with a broad full-length fuller, and a slender fuller along the back-edge, engraved with a foliage, Sun Face and Stars, stamped on riccaso, with arrow inspection mark and signed on the back, J.J. Runkel Solingen.
Steel three bar hand guard, back strap and pommel, with cord wraps, shark skin grip.
CONDITION: The sword is in the same original condition as it was found, with engravings worn.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 101 cm (39 3/4 in). Length of the blade: 88.2 cm (34 3/4 in).
