Rare Antique, late 18th - early 19th century, South East Asia Siam- Thailand, early Rattanakosin period, unusual, Silver mounted Thai dagger Daab, Dha, Dah.
DETAILS: The hilt is finely and whimsically carved in classical Siamese motifs of elaborate scrolling vines, encased by an embossed silver collar and long silver ferrule, decorated with two bands of roped silver wire, with an extremely sharp, sturdy, tapering single-edged blade. In its original wood-lined, oval, silver scabbard, decorated en suite with bands of roped silver wire, with copper chape on the bottom end of the scabbard to show the rank of the official wearing it, and most likely was owned by a ranked Thai mandarin of the late18th century.
CONDITION: Showing the age and usage, silver scabbard dented with slight opening on the join.
MEASUREMENTS: The Overall length with the scabbard is: 34 cm (13 3/8 in).
