Antique, Art Nouveau pendant necklace. Made of 15carat gold, natural pearls, sapphires and enamelling. Made circa 1885-1910, probably in England. Measurements: from top of top sapphire to bottom of long pearl drop - 2 1/4 inches. Chain is 18 1/4inches end to end. Weighs 9.7grams. Gorgeous Art Nouveau design, use of materials and colour. Strong botanical theme. From the top: a lovely blue sapphire from which are two gold chains suspending an arc of enamelled flowers, minutely detailed with very finely set tiny pearls set in gold cups in the center of each flower. These fan out from another lovely blue sapphire, in a line directly under the top gem. This stone sits amidst the top of long, flowing, elegant green foliage with little round pearls on either side. Looping behind the foliage is a gold, wishbone shape from which a very long, natural pearl is suspended. Despite the fairly large size of this piece, it is incredibly delicate. It is suspended by a gold chain. The back of the long, natural pearl has a little applied plaque with 15CT hallmark. Very good condition. Comes in an old VIctorian box with Royal embossing, that looks like a good fit, but is not original.
