Beautifully made by Garrard & Co London, Sterling silver salver / card tray won in a golfing tournament sponsored by the Evening News newspaper and played at Croham Hurst, in England. Dated 1958. Salver is 6 1/4 inches accross and weighs 176g (5.65 troy oz). Stands on 3 paw feet with shaped knees. Gadrooned border is gently lobed with sloping steps down to the flat part, conforming to the lobes of the border. The tray is engraved THE EVENING NEWS WOMEN GOLFERS'' AMATEUR TOURNAMENT LAST SIXTEEN PLAYED AT CROHAM HURST 17TH SEPTEMEBER 1958. Hallmarks underneath:G&Co Ld; lion passant, leopard head for London, date letter C. Underneath that is the name of the maker: Garrard & Co Ltd; 112 Regent St W. Condition is very good.
