Victorian, circa 1860 Staffordshire spill vase modeled as two brightly colored birds perched on either side of a tree, their nest full of eggs below. A snake is coiled around the spill, peering into the nest. Dull gilt base line. No book reference found. Good. No cracks. No hairlines. Small flake to base front. A few small paint losses to the grapes. Slight rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: craze lines to the reverse (some are slightly stained). Restored chip to front of base and another to the snake''s head. Retouching to interior of spill and both bird heads. 11.5ins high
