For Sale is a Beautiful Art Pottery Vase made by The Roseville Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The Pattern is called "Peony" and it is in the most popular large double handled vase shape. The Vase has some size to it as it 9 3/8" tall and is 7 3/4" in diameter outside handles measurement.
The Vase displays a background of horizontal and vertical wavy ridges with a 2 color Glaze background. The Coral/Pink starts at the top of the Vase and changes at the bottom to a Deep Moss Green. The Vase displays 2 very beautiful embossed Yellow Peonies with Light Brown Pistils on one side with a Peony Flower in bloom and a flower bud on the other side. The vase is further accented with 2 wide Buttress style triangular handles. This is a very beautiful and Popular Roseville's Pattern.
This Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, or chips. The only issue to report is the usual crazing with this glaze and a small nick on the very bottom side outside ring. This is meaningless and cannot be seen when displayed. There is also a glaze miss on the bottom of the triangular handled on the double Peony side. These are both pictured for you to view. The Vase is signed on the bottom in raised relief "Roseville U.S.A." and the mold number 64-9". There is also an small letter "x" and the letter "F" written in a blue grease pencil. These are more than likely the finisher's marks.
This piece was made Circa 1942 during World War II. Those of you who collect this pattern and want a nice crisp example this would be an excellent choice.
