Antique English Staffordshire Majolica: A good novelty William Brownfield (probably) Owl Jug. C.1885
A good English Staffordshire Antique Majolica pottery Jug probably by William Brownfield naturalistically modelled with a
polychrome Owl perched above grasses, the handle formed as stalks with a flowerhead thumbpiece
Circa: 1885
9.5 inches (24cm) height approx
Good Antique Condition - 2 insignificant shallow chips underneath on the base, and crazing all commensurate with
age and nothing that distracts but please view images - there is also a slight wobble when placed which is from time of manufacture and nothing to worry about, it is very rare to find these Jugs in this good condition
Please see the base of this piece to confirm that it is a 19th century example and NOT a later one.
A good example of this desirable Jug
