A splendid antique carved boxed newel post in walnut, dating from the 1880’s. The newel features graceful carved leaves throughout, with beaded accents. The sides of the newel each feature a carved square at the top and bottom with a fourfold foliate design; the middle is ornamented with an elegant carved flower with leaves. This box newel post is in very good antique condition with some scuffs and chips as shown. The newel is 46-5/8†tall and 8-5/8†wide.
