circa: 1880 width: 45 height: 31 length: 26 Handmade in Victorian England around 1880, this gorgeous antique desk represents the finest in English furniture craftsmanship. The oak, for instance, is not only adorned by an array of intricate carvings, but also shows a rich complexion and a distinct grain, made more beautiful over the years by the development of a lovely patina. The solid brass hardware also contrasts beautifully with the darker oak. Of course, this desk is also as sturdy as it is elegant, and remains as strong today as it ever was. This is in part due to the quality of craftsmanship and in part due to the fine solid oak that was used in its construction. Each drawer features hand-cut dovetails, which is yet another indicator of high quality, while all the drawers operate with amazing smoothness. Understandably, this desk has sustained a variety of wear marks, which you can see in the accompanying pictures. Otherwise, this desk remains in excellent condition for its age.
