Landscape painting of a Vermont farm by Robert Shaw Wesson (American, 1902-1967), oil on canvasboard, circa 1940s. Size: 18" x 24". This painting depicts a bucolic Vermont panorama with a farm and red barn set amidst a rolling pasture bordered by a stone wall and stream. The painting is in its as-found, unrestored condition. There are a few minor dark spots that could be removed with a professional cleaning. Robert Wesson was born in Worcester, Mass. and began painting late in life, studying with Stanley Woodward, Jay Connaway, and John Enser. He is best known for his renderings in oil of the New England countryside, and the rolling hills of Vermont were a favorite subject.
