A fine example of a solid Teak (all components are solid teak including back boards and drawer sides, backs and bottoms) 19th Century Anglo-Indian Campaign Chest in two sections, the upper section consisting of two half width top drawers and a full width second drawer, the lower section consisting of two full width drawers, both sections with original iron lift handles and brass binding at the edges, typical features of Campaign Chests. These chests are more easily transported because they separate into two sections and for that reason were typically used by British Military Officers during their tours of duty around the British Empire. They were also occasionally used by the wealthy on Safari because of their portability and resistance to insects, in very good original condition showing minor wear consistent with its age and with a few minor repairs, 37"H.
