SOLD Antique 19th century Islamic Arab Yemeni Sword Saif in the form of a Russian saber Shashka.
An extremely long and broad single edged Damascus steel blade, cut with three long fullers, with a silver hilt decorated on the outer side with deeply hand chiseled and pierced traditional Yemeni Arabian motifs, and adorned at the top with coral. The other side of the hilt is engraved with calligraphic Arabic script.
CONDITION: The sword is in good condition considering its age of over 350 years, except for some pitting to the blade, which makes the Damascus pattern visible only partly, some dents to the silver hilt, and worn through spots on the pommel.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 90.1 cm (35 1/ in). Length of the blade: 75.6 cm (29 3/4 in).
