DESCRIPTION:
This is a stunning 8-Day oak brass dial automaton FATHER TIME longcase clock. The clock is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. This clock is absolutely perfect for anyone looking for a clock to place straight into their home.

If we start with the hood, this has a superb arched top which incorporates a lovely deep moulding. Then above this is a beautifully shaped pediment which is finished with three lovely brass finials. Full candy twist turned columns which terminate in brass capitals flank the hood door and it has straight back splats. The door has a pretty little brass drop handle. The sides to the door have lovely glazed windows which allows the movement to be viewed.

If we then move down to the trunk it has a lovely shaped full length door which is beautifully surrounded in shaped moulding. The door is also complete with it's lock and key which is fully working.

The base is stepped, which sets the base off superbly. The base is raised on a shaped plinth.

The dial with makers name of 'Wm Kent, Saffron Walden', has the four corners adorned with the most exquisite spandrels which depict the four seasons. The arch contains an Automaton FATHER TIME and is engraved with TEMPUS FUGIT' (latin for time fly's). The is a stunning feature of the clock. The dial is set out with Arabic Numerals is superbly engraved. There is a subsidiary second dial and a date aperture. The dial also has the most wonderful fretted fingers.

The movement is eight day duration and is rack striking on a single bell. The movement is in perfect working order having recently been professionally cleaned and serviced. As can be seen from the photographs the movement is immaculately clean.

There is one 'William Kent, Saffron Waldon' listed in 'Watch & Clockmakers of the World Volume 2 by Brian Loomes': 'KENT. William. Saffron Waldon.ca 1760-7-. Clockmaker'.

- 20.25 inches across the widest part of the hood

As can be seen from these dimension this is a clock of lovely slim proportions.
