About the artist:
Donald Roy Purdy (1924 - ) is a still life, figure, landscape and marine painter in Impressionist/Barbizon style. He earned a BA degree at the University of Connecticut and an MA at Boston University.
His paintings are included in the permanent collects of the Cincinnati, Columbus and Bridgeport Museums, the Butler Institute, and the Walter P. Chrysler Museum. Two Purdy paintings were included in the U.S. State Department's “Art in America†show which toured Europe. Several “First Awards†have been given to Purdy in competition with major artists. Two of the awards, including the “Gold Medal of Honor.†were from the National Academy in New York City.
