Beautiful antique carved quarter-sawn oak Masonic chair from the 1880's. This chair was purchased in Minneapolis in 1887 for a new masonic lodge in Dakota Territory. The lodge was named Occidental #27 and located at Hope, ND.
The chair is in original condition, has not been refinished. The black leather is original with wear on the seat cushion and a small tear.
Dimensions of the chair: 69 inches high, width and length of seat cushion 24 X 25 inches.
This chair was one of two on either side of the Worshipful Master chair and held by the Steele County (ND) Historical Society. I believe this would be a Warden's chair. One chair was kept by the Historical Society and one sold. Chair was purchased from the party who acquired it from the historical society. Included with the chair is a copy of a page from the Steele County Centennial book with pictures of the lodge founders, the chairs in the lodge, and a narrative about the original purchase of furniture from Minneapolis.
Shipping not included in the price quoted.
