Yamagami Chikuou was born in Showa 4 (1930) and won numerous prizes for his original works of art including the first prize at the Japanese Classic Art Expo and also many awards in Kutani ceramic competitions. He created his own style of Kutani ceramics at his Chikuou Kiln and went on to garner many honors for his creativeness and innovation.
