Mexico
20th century
This powerful sculpture was created by sculptor Jan Barboglio, whose upbringing in Mexico informs her design motifs. Hand forged in Mexico, the piece consists of a solid iron cross encased in an outer shell of lighter metal incorporating an almost brutalist wreath of roses. On a table or pedestal, or as an architectural element in a garden -- where it will patinate even more dramatically over time -- this is a stunning piece. A stamp-forged disc identifies the artist.
